Ines Muzzopappa and Federico Naveira

Federico is the son of Gustavo Naveira, the celebrated master of tango argentino, although in fact he was taught largely by his mother Olga Besio, who is herself a great dancer and teacher of the form – so he literally has dancing in his blood! Today, he and Ines Mussopappa are a particularly close pairing, conveying a strong sense of two people dancing as one. They put their heart and soul into every dance, and exude the charisma typical of those whose art comes from deep inside of them. They perform and give lessons throughout Europe, Latin America and North America. In Buenos
Aires, they are regularly booked to appear at the leading milongas, such as Salon Canning, La Viruta, El Beso and many others. Here too, they frequently offer classes and seminars.

Virginia Cutillo & José Halfón

Jose and Virginia established the Nuevo Tango Salon, where they adapt the new elements of tango nuevo to the dance floor while preserving the powerful embrace so characteristic of tango argentino. Their innate sense of choreography enables them to execute moves that express the spirit of the music they are dancing to. Some years ago they began touring Europe, teaching, performing and taking part in festivals. They regularly teach at Salon Canning and recently began giving lessons at the Ciudad Cultural Konex, Buenos Aires.

Stefania Scarcia and Julio Mendez

Stefania and Julio’s dancing can be fast or slow, energetic or laid-back. They incorporate modern elements yet at the same time retain the body language of authentic tango, where man and woman, music, elegance, rhythm and sensuality are as one.

Julio is a highly experienced dancer, organizer and teacher who is well known and respected in Buenos Aires and many parts of the world.

Back in 1993 he began by organizing milongas and teaching tango in Buenos Aires. He was responsible for the creation of La Calesita, Patio de Tango del Bajo de San Isidro, and Club AGP Olivos. He was part of the new generation that brought about the renaissance of tango argentino in the 1990s, after many years of neglect. His lessons, given in the milongas,
proved highly popular. In 1998 he embarked on his first foreign tour, teaching and giving tango displays in the USA and Canada, and this was followed in 1999 by his first visit to Europe. In 2002 he relocated to Switzerland where, together with Anneke Gisi, he set up the El Social school and milonga in Zurich and Lucerne, as well as opening the El Tambito Zeughaushof and El Falcone milongas.

Julio has had the honour of dancing with some of the leading lights from the world of tango, including Guillermina Quiroga, Florencia Tachetti, Elina Roldan, Kicca Tommasi and Mari Soler. Nowadays, he and Stefania Scarcia give tango displays and lessons in Switzerland.

He has released two training videos, which are distributed in the USA.

His current projects include two festivals: Pfingsten Tango Luzern in Switzerland and Tango Festival Alghero in Sardinia, Italy.

Musicians

Martes Tango

Martes Tango consists of Roger Helou (director of Silencio Orquesta) at the piano, Federico Abraham on the bass, Raphael Reber on the bandoneon and Cesar Negri on the guitar.

These four great musicians came together to recreate the style of Anibal Troilo and his orquesta tipica in its final years: modern with complex arrangements yet preserving the spirit of tango as embodied by the genius of tango argentino.

Pablo Banchero

Pablo Banchero was a pioneer – one of the first young performers to begin singing tangos during the 1980s, at a time when it seemed a dying art. He frequently sang at the legendary Bar del Chino in the Pompeya neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. His recently released album “Tangos Nuevos” demonstrates his talent as both singer and composer: it consists
entirely of songs he wrote himself. His performance at Tango Festival Alghero is set to feature an audiovisual element; he'll be singing against the backdrop of projected images of Buenos Aires.

Quasimodo Trio

Quasimodo Trio consists of Daniel Ruggiero (bandoneon, composition), Adrian Mastrocola (Piano) and Cristian Basto (bass).

With this Trio Daniel Ruggiero follows the footprint of his father, the bandoneonist 'El Tano Ruggiero', who already played in the legendery Orchestra of Osvaldo Pugliese. In the combination of Tango, Jazz and chamber music they created their own sound, which expand the musicality language of Rio de la Plata. With their view of Tango they enchant the audience. The Trio has a remarkable career behind them. Founded in 2004, they played in the same year on big stages in Buenos Aires with a great success. In May 2010 they are on their first tour.
